Earth Day is a time to show our concern for the planet we live on. Climate
Warming Change appears to be our biggest worry.
Just to clarify things, I hate when I see dirty water, pollution and littering, or anything that shows man was there and not considerate of other people, future generations and mother earth.
However, for this post I am taking a look at a larger picture that relates to earths age.
Actor/Activist Leonardo DiCaprio has earth on his mind and is one of the prominent people that you can find marching with others for change. He takes this very seriously as shown in his speech at the United Nations.
We have monitored our weather for 167 years. 150 volunteers in the United States tracked our weather to the Smithsonian in 1849, which created weather maps. Eleven years later in 1860 there were 500 stations that gave daily reports to the Washington Evening Star.
The earth is 4,540,000,000 billion years old give or take 50 million years, so how do we know that earth hasn’t had millions of temperature fluctuations like we have been experiencing.
For blogging out loud))we are evaluating only 0.000003678414096916299% of the earths weather history. (Math experts please tell me if I am wrong) Can we really know if our weather is abnormal.
Some points to consider:
For the past 1,000 years before we used fossil energy, there has been higher and lower temperatures, so that negates fossils influence.
Costing billions of dollars Obama has a Climate Action Plan that would reduce the globes temperatures by 0.01, which is one one-hundredth of a degree Celsius, and doesn’t consider that it could eliminate thousands of jobs.
Emissions created by developing countries will result in a Carbon emission increase of 125%.
For almost every scientist that believes it, you’ll find another that doesn’t.
So maybe it’s time to move onto other immediately pressing problems like terrorism.
There was a Twilight Zone episode “The Midnight Sun” 1961 where a girl (Lois Nettleton) had a fever and she thought the world was turning into an inferno but then her fever broke and she woke up to the world freezing. Sorry to give you the ending, but the episode is very apropos to this post.
If mother earth doesn’t want us here we are gone with one superstorm or a new ice age or one of the million asteroids, comets or meteors flying around. So if you find yourself freezing or sweating, just hope our technology can shield us from it.))
