Most of us have a left and a right hand. And they work together to accomplish something. Open a jar, thread a needle, perform surgery. It is crucial that our hands understand both of their roles and work in sync to complete the task at hand. Our goal is done and our mind is ready for the next minor or major thing we need to do. Perfect. We spend our early years learning from our parents or guardians how to do these things. Tying shoes, button your shirt, pee IN the bowl.
So now these mundane things we have accomplished in coordination with our left and right side of our body are a distant, but relied upon memory. We relied on each party to move on in life. So why is there such a divide in the Political Parties? It feels as though our left hand has its own stubborn brain.
The left in my opinion is very intolerant of the rights opinions. Not that the right likes what they stand for. But 9 out of 10 times you see the lefts face strain, get red, the veins in the face and neck are looking like they are going to explode, if you don’t agree with them. Its like the kid that throws a temper tantrum.
For blogging out loud)) I thought Diane Sawyer was going to choke when Bruce Jenner said he was Republican and conservative. Jenner said “I’m kinda more on the conservative side”, “In God’s eyes, how does he see me?” The way she reacted appeared worse than what the interview was for.
Diane shockingly asked, “are you a republican?”, Bruce appears to look around the room for some support, “well yeah… is that a bad thing? I believe in the constitution” Do you think it will be maybe an unsettling thing for some people in the conservative wing of the Republican party? You’re going to Mitch McConnell and John Boehner and ask them to help champion this cause?” Bruce unsurprisingly says, “I would do that in a heartbeat, yeah why not. I thing they would be very receptive to it.”
There is that we and them mentality, that we all have to get over. The idea is to have two possibly varying opinions of something and to find a common ground to accomplish our goal.
Try tying your shoe with someone else. You use your right hand, they use their left hand. It can be accomplished but it will take a long time, some specific clear instructions and cooperation from both parties. This is what Democrats and Republicans need to do. We have to start to think that we as Americans share a common goal. WE, US, US of America is all the same. *see 9/11 was an affirmation.
The interesting thing about the interview is Bruce Jenner’s commitment to live his life the way he feels. Regardless of the left questioning his political views or the world’s shock at his gender correction.
In the 70’s he was the man’s man, the epitome of how we would look at ourselves, turns out that everything isn’t perfect. We all have skeletons in our closet. The hope is that the people who are your friends and family, continue to be the people you can lean on, good times and bad. Good luck! Bruce.))
